Is there a demo available?
 
Not at the moment, though there will be one soon. If you’d like us to mail you when we start a public beta, please do contact us.
 
Is this an open-source project?
 
Not currently, but we are considering the idea of an open-source release at some point. We’ve also released some key components of the system, which we felt had wide applicability, under open-source licenses, and will continue to do so in the future.
 
What are the main features?
 
Full-featured IMAP client; built secure from the ground up; distributed, Object-oriented architecture; strict privilege separation; full OpenPGP encryption, decryption, signing, verification; integrated key generation, key management, key certification; full MIME support, including PGP/MIME; caching and optimization for high performance with minimal load on IMAP and web servers; key-server support; intuitive, easy-to-use interface.
 
Who are the developers?
 
Cryptonite was developed by Ashish Gulhati in his copious free time over several years. Many details about Cryptonite’s design and development are contained in the chapter written by Ashish for the O’Reilly Inc. book, Beautiful Code (Ch. 11, Secure Communications: The Technology of Freedom).
 
Are you planning on offering commercial licensing and support?
 
Yes. The precise details are being worked out.
